The day before in Chester had been a truly wonderful day, not just because Chester was fabulous but also because we had met up with our friend Miranda. Today would be another day where we visited friends. First we had to say good-bye to our lovely B&B. Eskil had a last quality play with Zep dog.
As we seemed to be running early and as the weather report for the next day was Not Good, we headed to Skipton for a canal boat ride. We had a short but lovely ride on the Spring Branch of the Leeds – Liverpool canal.
The road back to Manchester was busier than we thought it would be, so we arrived at our friends’ house in Bury much later than we thought we would. We were visiting my friend Kylie, who I met on Twitter, and her husband and son. Eskil had such a FABULOUS time playing with Kylie’s son. He’d really started to miss having playmates. The boys dropped our bags off at our hotel then headed to the pub, and Kylie and I had a lovely walk to the grocery store for dinner supplies.
Yes, Eskil is wearing a Spiderman costume backwards – but he ADORES it. He thought Corey was pretty awesome too.
Kylie made pizzas, which were delicious; I did chocolate mousse, which didn’t work as well as at home. We had wine; we laughed. Scott got a bit tiddly! The boys played – there were several CRASHES. Kylie borrowed a pram from a neighbour and walked us back to our hotel at the end of the evening. I’m a bit sad that I was so busy talking that the photos I took of her walking with Scott didn’t turn out at all; it couldn’t have been the wine.
Scott and Eskil went up to our room while I had a last drink with Kylie downstairs. We said our goodbyes, and when I returned to the room Scott was asleep and Eskil was bouncing on the bed. Obviously a good day had been had by all!
