2 Year Review!

This is a big one, 24 months or two years!  I think we should briefly look at some of our progress up to this point, but then I would also like to discuss my birthday.

  • I’m doing a fantastic job at talking, not just expanding the words and phrases I say but coming up with my own phrases – usually by adding my name to things, such as Eskil digger, Eskil bike, Eskil car but also daddy coat (when it is time to go) and mummy eye (when mummy is putting on makeup).  This month I have excelled myself at talking.  I can ask for things I want, such as to take my nappies to the bin and to eat RORO (yogurt).  Thank you for driving past some of my favourite things, BIKES, BUSES, BINS, CHOO CHOO PARK, and DIGGERS.  And I’m proud to say I have quite healthy lungs.
Rating: SHOUT OUT TO SHOUTING AND SHOUTINESS!!!!
  • I am a very tidy boy.  I love to put my nappies in the bin, I like to get the letters from the letterbox. . .and put them into the bin, I put my dirty tissues in mummy’s pocket, and I wipe my feet on the matt.
Rating: Hooray for tidiness. . .and painting the couch in yogurt.
  • I am a very independent young man.  These days I want to walk by myself to and from the car and when we go out and everywhere.  I find it less restrictive and allows me to add my own personal flair to a situation.  For example, mummy and daddy when you walk to the car you just, well, walk to the car.  I find it better to say good bye to all parts of the front garden and then walk around the car completely before getting into my door and climbing up into my seat.  Just think of it as my safety audit!
    Rating: I’m independently awesome.
  • I have decided that, although I love swimming, I don’t want to sit in the water in the bath anymore.  I must sit on mummy’s lap to have my bath.  Perhaps you could make the water not quite so wet when I’m so very tired?
    Rating: Needs improvement.
  • Each week I have a new favourite food – and it becomes the only food.  This week it is plain, biodynamic, unsweetened yogurt.  Luckily for mum I’ve still liked my breakfast of oatmeal porridge with mashed banana – well, until the last couple days. . .
Rating: I shall keep you guessing at what comes next. . .
  • My favourtie phrase right now is ‘my turn’.  It obviously has magical properties, and instantly makes anything, well, my turn.  This phrase does not, of course, work for others.
    Rating:  My turn!
  • One thing you are doing well at is finding diggers for me.  I approve of changing our route to day care to find them and of going for walks in the neighbourhood specifically to visit the TasGas (Eskil’s) digger.
Rating:  Well done for finding my diggers!

I’d just like to take some time out to talk about the day of my birthday.  It fell on a Tuesday, and instead of me going to daycare mummy took Monday and Tuesday off work.  We went and visited diggers, we went grocery shopping, we visited mummy and daddy’s offices, we met daddy for lunch, we went to the museum to shout at things, and we went to the train park.  And I got a red car and balloons – hooray!!!!  It shows you have worked on your mind reading since last month.  Well done!  (I’ll even forgive you for posting my post to late. . .)
