Miles travelled: 5048 – 5361 (day total of 313 miles)
Weather: clear, sunny, and hot, but we spent much of the day in an air conditioned cacheMobile! Highlight of the day: Lunch at Big Momma’s Country Kitchen (motto: ‘Git in here and eat!’) and driving at a relaxing pace with the occasional geocache stop.
At around 7.30 am-ish Disa started coffee; it was a morning to relax, so she made 2 cups each! She then made scrambled omelette of red capsicum, roast beast, mesquite smoked turkey, and red capsicum tampanade. Yum. The camp site’s table was in the sun, so we set up the table in the shade – the table reminds us of the kind used by our friends when we are ‘Haunting’ down at Cornelian Bay.
This campground has been fantastic: beautifully clean everywhere, recycling, and sparkling clean loos. We were on the road at 9.20 am.
At 11.23 AM, mileage 5133 on the van, we crossed both the Colorado River as well as the Arizona state line! Immediately a new sort of cactus was visible. The subtle differences in terrain and flora are amazing as we pass through different areas.
