10 Years of Geocaching

On 3 May 2010, it is 10 years since the world’s first geocache was hidden by Dave Ulmer.  To celebrate, 10 Years! events are being held all over the world.  pjamesk listed the event for Hobart, however as work took him to Brisbane for the weekend I had to take over.  I baked, I organised, I got balloons.  I also got together the geocaches 10 of us had hidden in honour of of the event.  These listings weren’t going to be published until 3 May, but event attendees were given a chance at FTFs by getting the listings a day early.

To qualify as an office 10 Years! event and get a special icon for attending, we had to have a photos with at least 10 geocachers looking festive and a banner with our location and coordinates.  Quilter of Fairly Magic came through with the banner – which was SUCH a relief!

And how can you celebrate 10 years of anything without cake??  Here are the cakes I baked (the night before, when I read through the event listing and saw the cake mentioned – pjamesk had forgotten to tell me about it!).

How could you celebrate 10 years without cake?

I can’t wait for 18 May 2010, which is the 10 year anniversary of the 1st geocache in Australia.  Lots of fun geocache hiding happening on Geocaching Australia!!
