Out and About with TheBlueFox & goblindust

TheBlueFox & goblin dustI had so much fun spending the 2nd half of the day with TheBlueFox and goblin dust, I’m certain it’s not allowed.  They were in Hobart last week and did some caching (of course) as well as attended The Red Carpet.  They are visiting from the Seattle, Washington area, and as they had already been to a sister cache to some of mine, they HAD to find the Tasmanian caches, Hobart-Hobart TransPacific Multi-cache Part Aand Hobart-Hobart TransPacific Multi-cache Part B.  However Part A had gone missing.  Some might argue that it was stupid of me not to camp at that cache while visitors from Seattle in town to ensure it didn’t go missing; others might argue that I should have hidden it away as a ploy to keep the visitors in Hobart.  Either way, it was gone, however they left town to see more of the state.

So imagine how pleased I was to hear from them later in the week asking if they could stay with me Sunday evening.  Of course!  I spent all day Saturday and the first half of Sunday doing chores, doing stuff around the house, and running errands.  So by the time I got a call from goblindust on early on Sunday arvo, I really felt I’d deserved to take the rest of the day off and play with them.  They came to my place and met Lottie, then we said our good-byes to Lottie and Scott and headed off.

Perhaps if my weekend up until that point had been less full I would have put some thought into where we were going, however that’s not the way it worked out.  Our ‘plan’ – and I use that term is the loosest sense possible – was to hit Hobart – Hobart Part A, then head for Kingston and cache south along the coast from there.  The first cache was easily found, then there were a couple easy traditionals nearby they hadn’t done when they’d been in town before.  (Impressive, actually, as they had done a couple of multis.)  We headed out of town on the Southern Outlet but somehow instead of making it to Kingston we got stuck hitting some of the caches just off the outlet and around Mt Nelson. After about the 5th cache in that area we decided we’d just stay in town!  We headed down Proctor’s Road, and when we were back at the car after finding Pink 2 we bumped into some cachers; I don’t know who they are – perhaps noobies who don’t know caching etiquette allows us to talk to each other?  They just said ‘we’re not muggles’ and made their way up the hillside with sheepish grins on their faces.

Muggles Near Autum: check out the notes :-)Autumn was LOTS of fun.  As we were approaching I could see a muggle sitting on a bench not far from GZ.  I mentioned this and asked goblindust about his strategies for scaring away muggles.  Somehow this apparently made TheBlueFox and goblindust think the cache was rather closer to him than it was, so they didn’t look where the arrow was pointing and starting looking in the gardens near the reading muggle.  I decided to keep out of the way, so went off to sit on the cache and observe from there.  It was pretty funny.  The muggle really didn’t care what they did, even if they were both within 2 metres of him and TheBlueFox was actually UNDER him!  I was just getting out my camera to take a photo when Mrs Reading Muggle arrived.  She asked TBF and gd what they were up to (looking for spiders and bugs according to TheBlueFox) and started to tell them about the plants in the garden.  She asked if they’d like her husband to move out of their way.  I was really having difficulty controlling my laughter.  So I might not have.

We did a few more caches, then several along the rivulet in South Hobart.  By this stage it was 7 pm, so we only did one more on the way back to Snuva HQ.  Our lovely guests offered to take us out to dinner, so we headed off to Amigos in North Hobart.  After a pleasant meal (MUCH better than I expected, although mine seemed more Asian than Mexican), we of course just had to hit one or two more caches.  Well, 5 more actually, but you know how it is!

We all arrived home rather tired but happy.

As we only hit caches I’ve already been to, I haven’t included the cache list like in my post when caching with MullinitOvr.  Instead I’ve tried putting in a map of the caches.  It’s not as nice as I’d like, however what do you expect when I don’t know what I’m doing?!  We’ll see how this works anyway.
