Euro14 Day 37: Paris’s 7th, Sacre Coeur, Musee D’Orsay

Temperature: Min 18°C; Max 30°C.
Weather: Sunny and hot.

For our first full day in Paris, we decided to give ourselves a little bit of a rest and relax to just potter around. (Ha!) First we took one of my old buses, Bus 69, to my university’s old neighbourhood in the 7th arrondisment. I’ve always loved this bus route, which goes along Rivoli, goes through the grand square of the Louvre, across the Seine, past Invalides, through lovely neighbourhoods and past my old shopping street, Rue Cler, and to the Tour Eiffel.

Eskil enjoys bus rides, but he was also happy to get off and have a bit of a run in the Champ de Mars.

As it was our relaxing day, we didn’t go up the tower, but we relaxed at the base. By relax I of course mean ran after Eskil but received hugs as compensation.

We headed to a patisserie to get a macaron for Eskil (in Paris he lived on macaron, ice cream, and crêpes). We might have gotten something for the adults as well.

It was a lovely walk full of memories for me. We decided to grab another of my old buses, the 80, as it would take us up to Sacre Coeur. I couldn’t take photos inside, but I took a couple outside!

Eskil thought the steps were a great venue to dance.
It's always time to dance
Eskil was in public transport heaven. We’d already taken 2 buses, then we took the funicular down the steep hill, then we took a ‘tummel train’!
Metro came! Tunnel train!
Next we headed to the Musee D’Orsay. Like some of the other museums we’d visited, we were able to borrow a pram to make our visit easier. It helped a lot – when Eskil would agree to sit in it. Not having working lifts and having to take it up and down stairs wasn’t brilliant though. However we did enjoy it. We took a break partway through to have a coffee and left when Eskil was getting especially ratty.

We grabbed some crêpes after leaving and wandered to a bus stop for bus 69, which we took back to our neighbourhood.

Eskil enjoyed everything going on in front of the parvis de l’hôtel de ville, such as the man making bubbles and the COOL MIST.
