Most mornings in Paris Scott would go out for coffee and pastries, and he decided today he’d like to go out for breakfast in a cafe. He still got us early coffees, so scouted out a cafe. After coffee in our flat, we headed out for breakfast. Here’s ‘our’ front door and the cafe where we had confit du canard for our first meal when we arrived. We headed down the street and around the corner for breakfast.
As it happened, the cafe he chose was the one on the corner diagonally across the street from where I used to live!
Once we got going we headed out to check out another part of our neighbourhood, the Marais. Before 10 am on a Monday was too early for shops to be open.
We wandered to the Place des Voges, where Eskil charmed some Japanese tourists by playing in a fountain; they tried to get him to jump with them in their photos.
This shrub was like a bird apartment building. They sat on twigs with their heads peeping out. Unfortunately they flew as I tried to take a photo.
There were quite a few joggers and exercise freaks. Eskil was fascinated by it as it’s not something he’d seen before at home.
Next we wandered down Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe towards the Seine. I LOVE this part of the Rue du Temple as there are so many stationery shops. CULT Unfortunately or fortunately most of them were closed.
Scott and I made use of an automatic toilet. It takes SO LONG between people to clean, however a useful thing to have scattered around the city.
Then we crossed Pont Louis-Philippe to the Île Saint-Louis. Berthillon ice cream was necessary.
We crossed to the other side of the Seine can made our way to the Panthéon, passing some old city walls from 1210 as we went. Eskil love the Panthéon because there was a CRANE! On Rue Soufflot we stopped at another stationery shop and made some purchases.
Next Pan led us to the Jardin du Luxembourg. It’s large and beautiful, with lots to occupy you or places to sit and relax. It also has the best playground we found in Paris. Most of the playgrounds we visited throughout Europe had equipment made by the same company whose playground equipment is in playgrounds in Tassie. This playground even had the same train as our train park.
We wandered back to the Marais, where we found another playground for Eskil on Rue des Blancs Manteaux. Scott went off and acquired the world’s best felafel’s from Rue des Rosiers.
We did a little shopping on the way home, so I nipped up to leave things in our flat. This photo shows how minute our lift was.
And a final play at the Jardin Anne-Frank.
