Headed South – and a FTF as well!

In order that Geokashers could clock up the most southerly cache he can without an overnight bushwalk, we headed south today.  The FTF that still seemed up for grabs near the Tahune Air Walk was only a secondary consideration (and if you believe that one. . .).

So Geokashers could possibly get a nice round 2300 finds at an Australian FTF, we did 2 caches on the way.

First stop on our ‘FTF & Most Southerly Cache’ expedition with Geokashers. Despite the fact the cacheWagon was almost parked on top of the cache, Lottie was unhappy she wasn’t allowed out for the ‘walk’. Thank you for the cache!

Second stop on our ‘FTF & Most Southerly Cache’ mission with Geokashers. It’s handy having such an obedient dog. Just give the command ‘hold him’ and I can get away from the cacheWagon first! Sure it meant there was a bit of blood dripping on the floor later, however it’s nothing we aren’t accustomed to dealing with. And I’m certain scoring another smiley helped dull his pain.

Next we went out to the Tahune Airwalk, where we were able to grab a FTF! We also grabbed a couple other caches and walked on the Airwalk. Personally, I thought the walk through the bush and over the suspension bridges while grabbing ‘2 Rivers Meet’ was better than the Airwalk!

The scent of FTF in the morning attracted us to this area, so of course we had to made a visit to the other caches in the area – and to the Airwalk itself. This cache was easily found and put us in the mood for more!Thank you for the cache.

On Friday night after we’d picked up Geokashers from the airport and were back at Snuva HQ, we saw this FTF still seemed to be available. We wanted to spend one day geocaching on Mt Wellington and one day headed south, however as Saturday looked to be the best weather for the mountain I was certain this FTF would be gone.So we arrived thinking we’d see a soiled log book and be forced to rip out pages and eat them, but no! An empty log book – beautiful sight!Oh yeah – it was a gorgeous walk too.Thank you for the cache.

I’m so glad this cache was here as I had no idea how great this walk was! Personally I think this walk and the suspension bridges are better than the airwalk! I was visiting the area with Geokashers, from California.I’m not certain Lottie enjoyed the bounciness of the bridges, however I’m pleased she walked them anyway. And when you think about it, those bounces compared to her body size must seem huge! Scott and Geokashers both seemed to enjoy the bridges. The cache was found easily, the walk was enjoyed – what more could you want?Thank you for the cache.

We visited a bakery in Geeveston so Geokashers could take in that great Aussie invention, the sausage roll. Scott and I went the beef and Guinness pies. We then headed for the furthest south piece of road in Tasmania / Australia and let Geokashers hit his furthermost south cache so we could cache back from there.

We visited this cache with Geokashers during his ‘FTF and Most Southerly Cache’ mission. We had already visited ‘Thar She Blows! “In Tassie”‘ and were on the return journey home, but how could we resist stopping in on this one?! But imagine our displeasure when I husband parked a whole 5 metres from the cache and we had that long, hard slog to do to GZ.Thank you for the cache!

Unfortunately at this point it was getting on the late side, so we wound up having to skip a bunch of caches. But we did do a few more in the Huonville area around dusk, and Geokashers’s last cache (well after dark and in a bit of a drizzle) was in an old graveyard.

Geokashers and I found this one on our homeward bound journey after a caching mission to the south. The cloud cover meant we were signing this one at dusk in the drizzle. Did you see us? Only geocachers would have been at this spot – at this time – signing this!Thank you for the cache.

I visited this one at dusk with Geokashers, and there were muggles EVERYWHERE! That, combined with the lights that came on by motion sensor (or an unseen hand. . .) perhaps made Geokashers a bit nervous, so I took advantage and zeroed in on the find before him. The building here should get a mention; it is small but rather charming. Thank you for the cache.
