Day 14: South Pacific Total Solar Eclipse

I have some photos somewhere around here!!!
Eclipse geeks on board the MV Discovery

The day the eclipse geeks have been waiting for!
First Contact: 10.22am
Second Contact: 11.47am
Third Contact: 11.48am
Fourth Contact: 1.19pm

The eclipse geeks had already started claiming their parts of the deck by the time we went up to the Lido for breakfast; you wouldn’t believe the number of telescopes and miscellaneous gear! (OK, maybe you would.) We eventually grabbed a spot aft on the Lido near the spas. I spent some time setting up the travel bugs, and TS helped with the photo by using her knitting to create the crescent-shaped patches of sunlight that proved they were part of an eclipse. The totality was short (33 seconds), and I saw quite a bit of colour. Despite its short duration it was photographed and written about extensively, so I’ll let some of the others tell about their impressions!
