Euro14 Day 25: Hopping off and on in London

Temperature: Min 15°C; Max 29°C.
Weather: Hot and sunny.

It was kinda nice having a kitchen; the last time we had was our aparthotel in Edinburgh! So eggs for breakfast. Then we attempted to get a taxi. This sounds simple, however it wasn’t. We couldn’t get a mini cab – the people at the local office yelled at Scott – and phoning for a black cab yielded nothing but frustration. I wasn’t allowed to book without a local phone number. Um. . .I’m a tourist. Long, long, long and frustrating story short: the kind lady at the patisserie we had eaten at the day before called one for us (even she had difficulties!). Eskil loved his ‘big boy seat’.
Eskil VERY excited to have his own seat in a taxi
Our plan for the day was to take hop-on-hop-off buses to journey around and see the sites with minimal walking for my mum. The taxi dropped us at the bus stop, and we were soon on our way.

We spent hours travelling around on the buses, then got off near Westminster Abbey for lunch and some air conditioning. By the time we arrived at Westminster Abbey, they weren’t allowing anyone else in for the day. Sigh.

So we decided to use our hop-on-hop-off ticket to take a river cruise. The queue to get on was LONG.

But it was rather lovely once we were one – and there was even a breeze one the water.
He was actually smiling because he saw a helicopter rather than being excited about Westminster Palace.
Tower Bridge Again
One thing they didn’t tell us when we got onto the river cruise was that it was the last one for the day and wouldn’t be returning to Westminster. Oh. Suddenly we were dropped at the Tower of London at the end of the day. It was a bit of a walk to where we could get a bus, so we stopped off for a rest halfway. I snuck off and got everyone ice creams.

Eventually we got back onto a bus. This bus would take us to the end-of-the-day drop off bus.
Do the tiger!
It had been a long day in the hot sun; we were obviously hallucinating.
I've obviously had too much sun
We were able to flag down a black cab and were soon back home.
After a day adventuring in London, Eskil wants MorMor to read to him.
Scott was a prince and arranged dinner: different ‘courses’ he’d obtained from the grocery store with matching beers and wines. (The beers and wines matched our need for beer and wine, not necessarily the food.)
